In this article we examine the complex relationship between care experience, mental health and exclusion from school and how young people (YP) negotiate these different experiences and identities. The study is a secondary analysis, informed by symbolic interactionist theory, of interviews conducted with 19 care experienced YP in Scotland. Not all of the YP were excluded and not all had a formal mental health diagnosis, as such our study design allows interrogation of the contexts and relationships which not only facilitate but also disrupt pathways to exclusion. It also allows reconsideration of assumptions of vulnerability which are often applied to care experienced YP. Our findings suggest that these YP are moving beyond ‘role playing’ the identities ascribed to them and actively seek out relationships which enable them to construct alternative identities. 相似文献

In this essay, Hans-Christoph Koller presents a concept of transformational processes of Bildung in an attempt to redefine the German notion of Bildung referring to actual social conditions of educational processes. According to this conception, Bildung is a transformation of world- and self-relations that can come about when subjects are confronted with problems for which they have no established routines of engagement. With reference to theories of Pierre Bourdieu, Bernhard Waldenfels, and Ulrich Oevermann, Koller looks for answers to three questions: (1) Which concepts and theories are able to adequately grasp the world- and self-relations of subjects going through processes of Bildung? (2) How can the problems that trigger processes of Bildung and that challenge subjects to transform be determined more precisely? (3) How exactly does the emergence of new figures of world- and self-relations take place when we “successfully” complete a process of Bildung? Education Preparation Programs (EPPs) are increasingly pressured to demonstrate alignment between program supports and candidates’ outcomes. Using mixed methods, we studied the Early Field Immersion School (EFIS), an effort to improve candidates’ early field experiences. Participants included 171 candidates enrolled in a graduate certificate program and 11 university-based faculty. EFIS candidates spent increased time in early field experiences, yet EFIS was not associated with candidates’ performance at program exit. Although we found that while candidates and faculty alike valued EFIS supports, participation was negatively associated with perceptions of preparedness. We discuss these discrepancies and offer suggestions for ongoing research. 相似文献

Universities aspire to offer students a transformative experience, but rarely spell out the nature of this transformation. In this essay, L. A. Paul and John Quiggin frame the successful university education as transformative in the philosophical sense. They explain the way that a successful college education can be understood as generating an individual conceptual revolution, and thus, as a transformative experience. Education can create epistemically transformative change through the process of developing critical thinking skills, leading to conceptual replacement and the discovery of new intellectual frameworks. This epistemic transformation, if deep enough, scales up into a personal transformation. After explicating the nature and structure of transformative education, Paul and Quiggin show how understanding transformation in terms of personal change and awareness of unawareness clarifies the debate over its value. 相似文献

[目的/意义] 随着中国逐步进入老龄化社会,越来越多的老年人使用移动社交网络来丰富自己的生活,调查数据显示微信已成为拥有老年用户数量最多的移动社交网络,构建微信老年用户群体画像对促进老年人提升移动互联网时代的社交能力,提升老年人生活幸福感具有重要意义。[方法/过程] 通过移动终端日志追踪软件获取微信老年用户使用日志数据,并构建实验环境、布置实验内容获取老年用户使用能力数据,利用k-means算法对数据结果进行聚类分析,并对老年用户属性及使用行为数据进行讨论分析。[结果/结论] 基于老年用户画像体系中的用户属性及行为数据聚类结果深入分析微信老年用户行为特征,发现微信老年用户与其他用户群体相比使用强度、交互强度、使用能力偏低;而且微信老年用户群体具有显著差异性,学历越高的老年用户使用能力、交互强度、使用强度越高,即微信活跃老年用户多为高学历用户。根据微信老年用户行为特征制定中国老龄化社会发展中针对老年人的相关社会引导政策具有理论和实践意义。 相似文献

Abstract This paper provides a methodology to study the characteristics of the research output from a university department. The faculty publications and their cited references over a 10-year period were used as the basis for this study to identify their publishing patterns and the types of material they are publishing; a core set of journals and other resources they are publishing in and citing over this period; the characteristics of the journals in which they publish and cite; the degree of openness of their publications and their citation advantage; and the age of resources that are referenced. 相似文献

运用文献资料法、调查法、访谈法和统计法等,对体育专业大学生课堂学习体验进行调查分析。结果显示,较非体育生,体育生专业认同感较强,学校认同感较高,学习目标设置比例较高而计划实施水平不高,体育生与非体育生均以外生学习动机为主,学习投入水平不高且学习问题较多;对于当前的教学形式与方法、教学内容、教师、作业、成绩评价和奖学金评定也都有新的要求。提出,课堂教学需在内容、方法、形式上进行改革,增强教学的互动性,教学内容尽量满足学生求知需求,教师要多关心关注学生,布置作业要兼顾难度和趣味性,注重教师魅力塑造,建立形成性学习评价为主的成绩评价体系及多元化的奖学金评定体系,为推动大学体育专业教学改革提供参考。 相似文献

AbstractTo determine the state of the cataloging job market, this study compares job advertisements from August 2016-August 2018 advertising for jobs with cataloging in the title, metadata in the title, and cataloging and metadata in the title. Given ongoing concerns about the impact of metadata jobs on the cataloging job market, this study asks the questions: Are cataloging jobs in fact “disappearing” and becoming metadata jobs? Are entry-level jobs disappearing, perhaps contributing to the idea that there is a lack of qualified catalogers? Is there a difference in position level between cataloging and metadata job advertisements that can account for a lack or perceived lack of available cataloging jobs?
